Remote employee

A remote employee is someone who works outside of a traditional office. An employee might work from home, from a coffee shop, or from anywhere that is not a regular office; although depending on the type of job they do, they might find themselves going into an office on occasion (if the company’s hub is geographically close to them). A company might have a team of remote employees (i.e., a remote workforce) or a mix of both office employees and remote employees. So if in the job description state that they’re looking for remote employees, job seekers will assume that this is not an office job.

  • The world holds its breath due to the Corona crisis. It is not just Thailand that has hit hard. The economy is slowing down. Public life is stagnating in-home office and quarantine. But how long are we going to last? How long can a state or society afford such a shutdown? Sure, many of the measures taken are sensible, and save lives. But it is also clear that things cannot go on forever. We will soon have to get back to normal. But what does this new normal look like? 


  • The same person can be an excellent office employee, but completely ineffective at remote work. An HR specialist should keep this in mind and not lose sight of simple but important little things.   • With 50% of the workforce working in some sort of telecommuting role and 80 to 90% of all employees saying they would like to work remotely at least part of the time; therfore  offering remote opportunities is an attractive way to gain productive workers.
